E-lluminate is a social enterprise with the mission to empower refugees in education by placing quality teachers, equipping vocational skills, and instilling entrepreneurship in refugee learning centres.
Education. Empowerment. Equality.
With the war and prosecutions happening in their origin country, millions of refugees flee to save their life and family. Malaysia alone has 155, 880 refugees registered.
However, Malaysia is not a signatory of 1951 UN Refugee Convention. Malaysia does not, and is not obliged to, provide education for refugees. The refugee communities have to run learning centres themselves.
They sustain only by donations from the public. Therefore, they financially cannot afford to hire teachers and only depend on volunteers for the classes. However, this leads to inconsistent teaching and thus poor quality education for the students.
E-lluminate is a social enterprise with the mission of sustainability development for refugees by placing quality teachers, equipping vocational skills, and instilling entrepreneurship at refugees learning centers.
Refugee children and youths will be well educated and developed with skills to explore entrepreneurship opportunities to not only becoming independent but become changemakers among refugee community.
By placing quality teachers, equipping vocational skills and instilling social entrepreneurship, E-lluminate ultimately aims to establish sustainable models for refugee learning centres in the long term.

” It was my first job experience in being a teacher. I am glad that they are my first students and they have taught me loads of things to become a more patient person. Although we are from a different background from each other, I feel that we share the same purpose of life which is to gain knowledge and to become the useful person in the future. “
“ Education has the power to build a nation and a better race. With proper guidance through education, I believe bridges can be built. As Malala Yousafzai said, ‘Let us pick up our books and pencils. They are our most powerful weapon’ ”
“ Education is a crucial part of one’s life. Education serves as a guidance for us to function and solve problems in real life. It helps us build knowledge about the world and teaches us to understand the world from different perspectives. ”
“ As Malala Yousafzai said, ‘Let us pick up our books and our pens, they are the most powerful weapons’. Oh, I can’t wait to see what amazing things they’ll achieve and accomplish in the future! ”
